Animal rights groups are up in arms over an annual festival in Peru where people eat cats.
You think they're upset. You should see the blokes who bought tickets to this "pussy eating event" and didn't get what they paid for.
The 'Gastronomical Festival of the Cat' – dubbed the 'Massacre of the Moggies' – sees townsfolk in Canete, near Lima, feast on the fluffy pets for two days.
It's a tender meat, good for you and allowed on the Atkins, so why are people upset by it? Is it because they're cute?
Oh, we can eat ugly animals all we like, but as soon as someone tucks into a cute one, people start crying.
If cows had pony-tails and freckles, no one would be allowed near a burger again.
It is odd because you don't see that elsewhere in nature. If an animal is a carnivore it sticks to its guns. You don't hear of a fox killing some hens, apart from the really cute ones.
And if you're attacked by a snake, it doesn't matter if you're blonde, blue-eyes and perky-breasted, you're dinner.
